Cole Trotta Interview

What year were you born? I was born in 2002

Where were you born? I was born in Mission Viejo, Southern California

Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in San Juan Capistrano, California. Besides living in Colorado for a year, I've lived in Southern California all my life.

Tell me your skate story – when you started skating, different phases, what boards, what influences, memories of spots when your a kid, teen, young adult / adult. (stream of conscious style of writing is fine - and dont worry about it being long - the more the better)

When I was youngin, my parents bought me a skateboard to which I fell in love with the sport from the start. I picked up downhill skateboarding when I was ‘11 years old. While I'm very competitive, and all my friends were better than me, I made it my goal to become better than them. People like Chance Gual and Byron Essert truly influenced my strive and passion for downhill skating. Everyday after school, regardless of the weather, I'd spend hours and hours teaching myself how to do different slides. At the time, I was balancing soccer and skateboarding and eventually gave up soccer so I could enjoy skateboarding that much more. Then I moved to Colorado, and I started to lose interest and video games and paintballing became my life, and I only occasionally skated. Eventually, my family moved back to California and I found my passion for skating again. I can’t thank my friends, family and my sponsors enough for keeping that passion alive, I wouldn’t be where I’m at and have traveled to the places that I have without them.

What have you been up to lately?

Just recently got back from a 12 day skate trip to Canada and Washington with Luke Spud and bunch of other homies. We filmed, skated and toured all they had to offer. Needless to say, it was a blast. Even more stoked to leave in a couple weeks for a trip that's been on my mind since forever. Spud and I are traveling to skate and film only the gnarliest of hills that North Carolina has to offer.
